The new Korean boy group, WOW (Wizard of the World), just debuted on March 8, 2021. Under A.CONIC Entertainment, WOW debuted with their first single “Miss U” and performed on MBC, Show Champion, and more. This new group has seven members who are all multi-faceted and interesting in their own right. Made up of models, musicians, and actors born between 1991 and 1999, the group has surely turned some heads. They were to debut in October 2020, then delayed to December 2020, and further delayed until this March. Some members are also a part of a pre-debut group called A.FACT, and these two groups share an account on Instagram. Check out their debut performance below:

The Future of WOW (Wizard of the World) and Their Significance

Since they just debuted, it’s hard to say what will become of WOW. However, with a mixed bag of talented and dedicated individuals in one group, I think we can expect them to do some cool things as they progress together. Each member has some experience in the entertainment industry, so they understand how the system works.

It should also be said that this group is particularly interesting because of the members’ unique backgrounds. Some are models, actors, and musicians in other groups who went on talent/music shows. Some are doing interesting creative work outside of these roles as well. The group as a whole is also older in age than your average KPOP debut group, which is usually full of teenagers or young adults. Their debut shows that there are many ways to become a KPOP idol. You don’t just have to go through the traditional route of auditioning at a young age.

As KPOP expands in popularity globally, I could see more groups with similar member makeups as WOW becoming popular. I also think as WOW finds who they are as a group, they could appeal to a larger audience alongside similar groups.
