As hardworking and as active as BTS are, they need to keep a consistent intake of food. And sure they might have diets here and there to balance their fitness, but that doesn’t stop the members from having a favorite food. While a favorite food can change, there are a few key foods that BTS enjoys. We’ve piled together a list of five favorite BTS foods so you can try some for yourself! And make sure you check out the end of this article, as we have a couple of recipes you might want to try out if you’re an ARMY!

Favorite BTS Foods #1: Meat

In a recent Run BTS! episode (episode 140), BTS worked with 15ya The Game Caterers. In this show, they had various games and tasks to accomplish. One of the first games they played involved the members naming celebrities based on their pictures. If they failed, they had to remove a food item from the filled table in front of them. A lot of the foods included meat, lobster, apple mangoes, and ramen. The catch with this game, however, was the fact that they included BTS’ recent album BE among the foods.

They wanted to see how much food BTS was willing to lose before they gave up their precious album. However, what the host did not anticipate was BTS’ love for food. Upon losing the first round, BTS removed their album without hesitation. Though BTS ultimately lost the game, and all of their food, one of the last foods that BTS held onto was the meat. (You can watch this episode on Weverse here or V-live here.)

This isn’t the only instance of BTS showing their love for meat, though. If you take a look through any of their reality shows—specifically ones where they had to cook—you’ll find BTS cooking various meat dishes.

For instance, in their recent reality show In The Soop, the first proper meal the boys made was jjapaguri with meat. However, if you take a look through every meal the members had during this eight-episode show, there was at least one (most likely two) dishes that were just meat. You can read through a list of their meals from In The Soop here.

Favorite BTS Foods #2: Noodle Dishes (Naengmyeon—Korean Cold Noodles—and Kalguksu—Korean Knife Cut Noodle Soup)

Amongst the various noodle dishes in Korean cuisine, we know that Naengmyeon and Kalguksu are a couple the boys like to eat. Jin in particular likes Naengmyeon and RM enjoys Kalguksu.

Naengmyeon is a cold noodle dish with thinly-made noodles, potatoes, and a few other variants. It’s usually made during the warmed months because of the colder broth it’s served in. Compared to some other Korean dishes—which are known to have an intense flavor—Naengmyeon has a rather mild and refreshing taste.

On the other hand, Kalguksu is a warm noodle dish with hand-cut noodles and various other ingredients. It’s served warm and typically considered a seasonal dish—although, it is most often eaten during the summer. Like Naengmyeon, Kalguksu has a lighter and mild taste. This allows the soup to have many different variations and side dishes.

Favorite BTS Foods #3: Ramen

Though you’re probably wondering why I didn’t include ramen with the rest of the noodle meals, it’ll all make sense when you realize how much BTS love ramen. It’s definitely one of the top favorite BTS foods that they eat.

Let’s start with the maknae (the youngest) of BTS, Jungkook. On July 14, 2016, Jungkook tweeted a picture on Twitter half-past midnight in Korea. This picture shows six cups of ramen (already made, of course) and Jungkook’s hand showing a thumbs up.

Exactly seventeen minutes after his first initial tweet, Jungkook tweets again. In this tweet, he gives us two pictures. One picture of six empty ramen cups and one of himself pouting cutely (assumedly because the ramen was spicy… and he ate all six of them).

As the resident ramen-cooker in BTS, it’s no surprise that Jungkook was able to eat through six cups within twenty minutes. He’s not the only one with such a love for ramen, though.

The other members of BTS are seen eating ramen throughout various V-lives, in various shows—including Burn the Stage, Memories DVDs, Bon Voyages, etc.—and pretty much anywhere that BTS can get their hands on some food.

Favorite BTS Foods #4: Kimchi (or Kimchi jjigae)

We all know Kimchi is a favorite dish for all Koreans, so it should come as no surprise that it’s a favorite in BTS foods as well. Particularly, member j-hope really enjoys Kimchi.

In Run BTS! episode 35, the members of BTS actually make Kimchi. The twenty-eight-minute episode is filled with the members attempting to cut up food and mix together the various ingredients. It gets even funnier when the members call their parents to get help on how to do certain parts of the recipe.

Another favorite Kimchi dish among BTS is Kimchi Jjigae. This dish in particular is member Jimin’s favorite. Kimchi Jjigae is a Kimchi stew dish made with pork (or another meat), onions, scallions, and a few other ingredients.

Favorite BTS Foods #5: Churros

Though this one might seem a bit funny, there’s no denying the excitement that comes with BTS having churros. And I do mean excitement. Whether that’s from making their own churro heart to receiving churros from their music friends.

In 2018, when BTS visited the US for the Billboard Music Awards, they did an interview with JoJo Wright from 102.7 KIIS FM. In this interview, the members were given a few different LA foods to eat—one of them being churros. The sight of churros instantly sparked joy in the members. But Jungkook in particular was excited by the sight. Before bringing out the next dish, you can hear Jungkook saying “I want [to] eat” about the churros. You can watch that video here:

Another member who’s often seen with churros is j-hope. In a 2018 BTS Episode, j-hope is behind the scenes of his “Daydream” music video shoot eating churros the members had brought him. And earlier, in a 2015 Bangtan Bomb, j-hope and V both enjoy acting cute and eating churros.

There are a few other instances where BTS eat churros, of course. But one of the cutest moments has to be BTS’ excitement when Halsey brought them churros as a gift. In 2017, Halsey tweeted this video where she brought the members churros. As soon as she brings them out, the members cheer and dig into them. So it should be no surprise that one of the favorite BTS foods is churros.

A Couple Recipes for You to Try!

For a special addition to this post, we talked with a special ARMY account on Twitter, ARMYKitchen, that make their own recipes inspired by BTS. They also make recipes for BTS foods the members have eaten before. So make sure you check out both their Twitter account and their website to see if you can find a dish you want to try.

For this post, we dug through some of their snack recipes and picked out a couple of our favorites that we think you’d like!

Mini Meat Pies

From their special snack recipes for BangBangCon 2021, we enjoyed their recipe for Mini Meat Pies. As you can see in the recipe above, there’s not too much work for a great result.

For ingredients, you’ll need: ground beef, chili/tomato sauce, onion soup mix, all-purpose flour, salt, shortening, shredded cheddar cheese, evaporated milk, and cider vinegar. You can also include sesame sees if you like them .

It takes approximately forty-five minutes to make these Mini Meat Pies, but it’s worth every minute. If you need vegan substitutes, ARMYKitchen suggests various foods you can replace on the recipe image itself. So make sure to check that out.

The McKrokosmos

Inspired by BTS’ collaboration with McDonald’s, ARMYKitchen threw together their own recipe for a special dessert.

This special dessert, a purple ice cream, is exactly what we all need to have during the upcoming warmer months. Not only is it spreading BTS colors, but it’s sweet like Suga. (I’m sorry, I will excuse myself for that horrible pun.)

One of the great things about this recipe is the ability to change it to your preferences. As long as you have ice cream and the Purple Galaxy Sauce, you can mix and mingle any ingredient you prefer. This means you can add Oreos, M&Ms, Twix, Snickers… any candy you prefer. If you like ice cream and sugary treats, this will definitely be a BTS food you’d want to try out.

This dessert also comes with a vegan counterpart. You can see that here:

Where to Find More Things about BTS

Like I mentioned earlier, if you want to find more recipes of food BTS have eaten or if you want recipes for BTS inspired food, then you definitely need to check out ARMYKitchen on their Twitter account and on their website. They have tons of recipes for you to dig through. We just selected a couple of our favorites.
